The Indian cement industry is currently the second biggest in the world, having huge limestone deposits. However, according to research, current limestone reserves are thought to be enough to provide for another 30-40 years of cement production.

The main challenge, however, is trying to identify new materials as  over 60% of the industry's CO2 emissions are caused by transformation of limestone into lime.
