The Brazilian ports registered, however, a growth in cargo handling in the first four months of 2022

{reg}[PAID={"id":"12,13,14","title":"The content you tried to access is only available to paid subscribers.","link":"1"}]In Brazil, the public ports of Paraná saw movement drop by 14 percent in April year-on-year, with 4,613,609 tons moved, according to Portos e Navios.

Besides the drop, products including corn, sugar, vegetable oils, and cellulose increased in exports in the month. In imports, the volume of malt and barley landed also increased.

In the four months of 2022, however, the ports of Paraná moved 18,692,904 tons of cargo, which represented a 2 percent increase year-on-year with growth in all segments. Exports exceeded imports by volume, however, in the percentage of increase, the arrivals were higher.

In the first four months, 10,972,696 tons of products were exported by the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina, up 1 percent year-on-year. Of imported cargoes, the accumulated volume in the period was 4 percent higher compared to the same period last year.

In exports, the best results were corn, while among the imports, it was wheat and fertilizers.

From solid bulk, in the four months, there were 11,589,498 tons accumulated in both directions (arriving and departing), up 2 percent year-on-year.

The overall cargo movement grew at the same level of 2 percent. This year, 4,387,898 tons were moved in the Paraná ports. Last year, there were 4,294,782 tons.

Among the net bulk, the increase was 3 percent. From January to April, 2,715,508 tons were moved by Paranaguá. In 2021, it was 2,640,590 tons.
