Plastic-free and functional: A leap in sustainable packaging

Graphic Packaging International, in collaboration with Picadeli, has unveiled an eco-friendly solution - plastic-free paperboard lids for its salad bowls, marking a significant stride towards sustainability. These new lids are not only recyclable in household paper waste streams but are also crafted from renewable plant-based fibers sourced from sustainably managed forests.

What sets this innovation apart is its secure snap closure system, which surpasses the performance of Picadeli's previous solutions. This means that health-conscious consumers can now enjoy a salad bowl and lid combination that not only eliminates plastic but also delivers exceptional functionality.

Åke Larsson, Managing Director of Graphic Packaging Tibro AB, emphasizes the lid's capabilities: "The new lids provide the necessary functionality for Picadeli to remove plastic salad bowl lids from their supply chain. Additionally, they offer outstanding branding opportunities through high-quality printing using water-based inks."

Henrik Åkerman, Head of Sourcing and Supply Chain at Picadeli, welcomes this partnership, stating: "We are thrilled to introduce this new lid to our packaging. It fulfills all our requirements and aids in reducing the plastic content in our portfolio, aligning perfectly with the preferences of today's consumers."

This collaboration not only meets the demands of the modern consumer but also demonstrates the commitment of both companies to sustainable practices, making it a commendable step forward in the realm of eco-conscious packaging.
