Mondi's sustainable sleeve for Coca-Cola HBC Austria

Mondi has introduced a sustainable sleeve packaging, Hug-IT, as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic shrink wrap for 1.5-liter soft drink multipacks by Coca-Cola HBC in Austria. Made from Mondi's Guinness World Record-recognized Advantage SpringPack Plus paper, Hug-IT provides exceptional strength and stretchability to secure six bottles during transportation.

This packaging will be used for Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, and Mezzo Mix multipacks in Austria's retail outlets. Advantage SpringPack Plus is 100 percent kraft paper sourced responsibly from wood and is recyclable in existing paper recycling streams with an 82 percent recycling rate within the EU.

The collaborative effort between Mondi and Coca-Cola HBC Austria, supported by Krones machinery, has produced an innovative solution that reduces plastic usage by 200 tons annually, aligning with sustainability goals.
