Company plans to add 100 new trucks to its Nigerian cargo fleet.

{reg}Lafarge WAPCO, one of the leading cement manufacturers in Nigeria has announced its plans to acquire 1000 state of the art trucks to its logistics department to improve its supply chain, reported Vanguard.

The project kicked off with the commissioning of 75 new Mark trucks at the company's Ewekoro plant by Omooba Gbenga Osinowo, the Ogun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry.

The major highlight of the commissioning ceremony was the stress on transport safety with advices to drivers to drive safely.

ÔÇ£The multiplier effect of the new initiative will be of immense benefit to the citizens of the state and the nation at largeÔÇØ, said Osinowo.

Lafarge WAPCO has the reputation of supporting Nigeria's Federal government in revitalizing the rail system through substantial investments.

ÔÇ£Our newly acquired trucks will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our company's logistics network of distribution nationwide as we are gearing towards the commissioning of 2.5 metric tons plant(Lakatabu) at the end of second quarter of this year,ÔÇØ says Samy Abdelkader, ┬áthe Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge WAPCO.

A few reputed banks and transport companies have taken up partnership with this new logistics arrangement. The most notable ones are TSL limited, K.K Logistics, Rembam Nigeria Limited, Safe Wheelers Ltd and ABC Transport Company.

ÔÇ£Our company's enhanced logistics system initiative will go a long way to ameliorate the challenges faced in the past in distributing our products to customer,ÔÇØ remarked Kola Olowokere, the Head of Supply Chain Division.
