According to Oficemen, Cementos Alfa, part of Spanish group Cementos Portland Valderrivas, has invested 3,25 million euros in an effort to improve its kiln operations. The Mateporquera-based plant undertook the upgrade to improve reliability of operations and it involved installing a new flame unit and tertiary air system in the clinker kiln. The kiln can now produce 2.000 tons/ day and will see reduced maintenance costs as well as improved calcination which will hep reduce CO2 emissions.
