Modernizing precast piles with cutting-edge green technology

{reg}Roger Bullivant, a leading piling specialist, is partnering with Concretene to integrate graphene-enhanced concrete into its precast piles, a groundbreaking move funded by Innovate UK. The project, backed by trials set to begin immediately, aims to initiate commercial deliveries as early as 4Q2024. Concretene's innovative admixture not only reduces embodied carbon in precast piles but also enhances compressive, tensile, and flexural strength, along with improving durability.

Construction Enquirer reported on this exciting collaboration, showcasing the industry's commitment to adopting innovative and eco-friendly building materials.

This collaboration aligns with Roger Bullivant's commitment to sustainability, as evidenced by their proposal to establish a pilot manufacturing plant for Concretene at their south Derbyshire headquarters. Managing Director David Clement emphasizes the environmental friendliness of their low-carbon concrete precast foundation systems, offering an alternative to traditional methods. As part of the larger Soletanche Bachy and VINCI conglomerate, Roger Bullivant has set an ambitious target to reduce concrete and cement-related CO2 emissions by 40 percent by 2030.

Concretene's Chief Operating Officer, Mike Harrison, expresses enthusiasm for this significant step towards commercialization and emphasizes Concretene's pivotal role in helping the construction industry achieve challenging net-zero targets. The establishment of a pilot manufacturing plant is deemed vital to scale up operations and contribute to a more sustainable construction landscape.[/reg]
