Firm invested £2m to fund UK based facility.

In Ireland, local cement company Ecocem Ireland has invested ┬ú2m to launch its first UK-based bulk import terminal along the Manchester Ship Canal, reports Runcor and Widnes World.

A further £2m has already been committed by Peel Ports to increase capacity at the docks to meet the growing demands of the market.

According to the report, the new facility will handle 200,000 tonnes of cement from the company's production facility in Dublin.

The terminal has been developed in partnership with Peel Ports to help Ireland's premier manufacturer of high performance, low carbon cement capitalise on the booming UK construction market.
