14 December, 2020

In 2020, the cement manufacturer Lafarge Africa, headquartered in Lagos, received the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificates from The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).

{reg}The company was granted the prestigious quality mark after the products from their Mfamosing plant matched the standardized quality levels set by The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON). The company's efforts to obtain the certification further demonstrated its commitment towards quality assurance within the government's regularity framework, according to the company.

The company was established in 2002, as United Cement Company Nigeria (UNICEM) Ltd after the acquisition of the assets of the moribund Calabar Cement Company (CalCemCo). Lafarge Africa's Mfamosing plant is located in Cross River State with an annual cement production capacity of 5 million metric tons after a new manufacturing line was commissioned in 2016 with an annual production capacity of 2.5 million metric tons.

The Mfamosing plant is the largest cement production facility for Lafarge Nigeria.

The plant is equipped with present-day advanced instruments to manufacture quality cement products. The plant manufactures two variants of cement one for general purpose and the other for specialized applications that fulfils the needs of their customers.

One of the major benefits for Lafarge Africa after receiving the certification would be the seamless export of cement products to different countries within the continent.   {/reg}
