Major Saudi Petrochemical company expanding into low-carbon ammonia production

In a strategic move towards sustainable energy solutions, Saudi Arabia's Sahara International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) is set to establish a cutting-edge blue ammonia plant in the thriving industrial hub of Jubail.

Sipchem has garnered official approval from the Ministry of Energy to allocate the necessary feedstock quantities for the development of this pioneering Blue Ammonia Plant, marking a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions.

Blue Ammonia, a low-carbon variant of ammonia, is produced from natural gas feedstock with an advanced process that captures and stores carbon dioxide emissions. The plant, slated for Jubail Industrial City, will have an impressive annual capacity of 1.2 million tons.
